Thursday 1st October Depart the US
Friday 2nd October: Arrival Shannon-Galway
Morning arrival into Shannon or Dublin airport where you are met by our local guide. Board our motorcoach and heading north we transfer first to the quaint town of Ennis known for its winding lanes, painted shop fronts, and folk music festivals. We continue to the Cliffs of Moher, rising to a height of 650 ft out of the Atlantic Ocean extending for 8 km. The Cliffs of Moher are nothing short of breathtaking. Finally we arrive in Galway, known as the capital of the “Western World” for an afternoon rehearsal. Welcome dinner this evening.
Saturday 3rd October: Galway
This morning we include a Galway sightseeing tour which takes in the famous Spanish Arch and the church of St. Nicholas where tradition holds that Columbus prayed before sailing to America. Free time for optional sightseeing and shopping.
Sunday 4th October Galway-Killarney
Departing Galway we head south stopping first in Limerick. Limerick is a graceful and historic city featuring King John’s Castle, the Treaty Stone, and St. Mary’s Cathedral, which was built in 1172. Continuing south through the pretty villages of Adare, Newcastle West, and Abbeyfeale we finally arrive into Killarney. Evening at leisure.
Monday 5th October: Killarney
No trip to southern Ireland would be complete without a tour of “The Ring of Kerry” which we include today. Encircling the Iveragh Peninsula, which features Ireland’s highest mountains, the Macgillycuddy Reeks. Excellent views are provided at Dingle Bay to the North and the estuary of the Kenmare River to the South. At Tralee we enjoy fine views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Dingle Peninsula. The captivating mountain and coastal scenery is dotted with slate-roofed fishing villages. Return to Killarney. Included dinner and live Irish music at the Danny Mann Pub.
Tuesday 6th October: Killarney-Cork
We transfer to Blarney Castle this morning to kiss the stone. Little remains of the actual castle which was built in1446 and is reached by a short walk through some lovely grounds. The tradition is to kiss the stone which is said to impart the gift of eloquence. Continue to Cork in time for an orientation tour which passes St. .Ann’s Shandon, the Butter Exchange, Elizabeth Fort, the English Market, and St. Finbarr’s Cathedral.
Wednesday 7th October: Cork-Waterford-Dublin
Transfer to Dublin today, first stopping in historic Waterford for a tour of the world renowned Waterford Crystal Factory. These are the largest manufacturers of mouth-blown and hand-cut crystal and during the tour you will witness the master craftsmen mouth-blow and hand-cut the crystal. Free time in the shop and for lunch in Waterford before continuing to Dublin. On arrival, check into the hotel, evening at leisure.
Wednesday 8th October: Dublin
We include a Dublin sightseeing tour today, which takes in the fascinating historic buildings and Georgian Squares, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which stands on the oldest Christian site in Dublin where it is said that the Saint baptized converts into the Christian faith. We also include a visit to the famous book of Kells, an 8th century illuminated manuscript located in Trinity Colleg. Some free time this afternoon for optional sightseeing and shopping. Farewell dinner included.
Thursday 9th October: Departure
Morning transfer to Dublin airport for your return flight to the US.
